Charlie Chaplin's Speech for 2012

This speech is from the movie The Great Dictator. It was Charlie Chaplin's first true talking picture. The movie was released in 1940, just a year before the U.S. entered into the second World War. In his speech Chaplin talks about "machine men with machine hearts and machine minds". He was making reference to men like Adolf Hitler and Hideki Tojo.

In today's world, the dictators of the 1940's have been replace with the owners of the big corporations. They are today's machine men with machine hearts and machine minds. They don't need huge armies to take over the world because they have already done so by controlling politics, information, energy, the products we buy and even the food we eat. This is something to think about as we approach 2012.
