The movie 2012 centers around the Polar Shift Theory. Normally the Polar Shift is 1 degree for ever 1 million years. For example eons ago Hawaii was somewhere near the North Pole and Alaska was somewhere around the equator.
On December 21, 2012 a massive Polar Shift is going to occur in a matter of days causing massive earth quakes, volcanoes, tidal waves and other global calamities. The massive Polar Shift is the result of the Earth aligning with a large Black Hole in the center of the Milky Way. Coincidentally the Mayan Calendar stops exactly on December 21, 2012 and that has caused everyone to be spooked. The Mayan's made very accurate calendars which could predict Lunar Eclipses, arrival of commets, and celestial events centuries in advance. Both the Mayan Calendar and the Gregorian Calendar are both based on 365 days.
